Project Instigate's 1st Annual Scholarship of 2019
Scholarship Project Instigate is seeking two prospective post secondary students who will be starting college or university in following academic year. Students must have demonstrated outstanding community service or have overcome significant barriers to education. The scholarship will include a complementary admission to the Academic Skills Program, and 10 months of one-on-one academic coaching and mentorship after the completion of the Academic Skills Program. This will help students build strong academic foundation and help them get a strong start in university.
Eligibility Applicant must be: - A resident of BC, Canada - Under the age of 25 - In receipt of an acceptance letter from a post secondary institute for the following academic year - Applying to Faculty of Arts (Social Sciences and Humanities) or related research and writing intensive disciplines - Able to demonstrate outstanding community service or articulate how they have over-come various barriers to education. - Able to provide two reference letters from teachers, school staff or immediate supervisors - Able to provide relevant supporting documents where applicable
How to Apply -Download and complete application form. -Write a maximum 1500 word statement of interest introducing yourself, explaining why you would be a good candidate for this scholarship and how receiving academic support from Project Instigate will have a positive impact for your education or help you achieve your goals. Be sure to mention any outstanding achievements or contribution to community service . Application must demonstrate applicant's dedication to academic excellence and academic integrity and a strong vision and passion for something greater than themselves. -Submit two letters of references, a copy of letter of acceptance at a post secondary institute, and supporting documents that you may feel are relevant (i.e. electronic portfolio, transcript, copies of recognitions or awards, etc.). -Applicants may submit a diversity statement as an addendum of no more than 600 words, only if it complements their statement of interest and helps demonstrate their ability to persevere despite the unique barriers that they faced. This optional addendum can be utilized by students that identify as aboriginal, visible minority, LGBTQ2+ or persons with disabilities, however, it is not limited to these groups.
